Most Hungarian licenses are only valid for Lake Balaton. Ours are not. With WindWorks’ beginner sailing course, you can get an international license that will allow you to sail on the Adriatic, the Mediterranean – and most of the world’s waters.
You show up, learn to sail, and go home with a paper that you can actually use.
The course is made up of three courses – sailing, powerboating, and international maritime extension – which are worth completing at the same time, as the curriculum largely overlaps:
Inland sailing boat – this allows you to drive most recreational sailboats on Lake Balaton
Small motorboat (motorboat) – without upper horsepower limit, both on rivers and lakes
International maritime extension – valid for vessels up to 20 meters long, within 3 nautical miles of shore anywhere in the world
How is the course structured?
The theoretical training takes place online – from home, but you can log in from anywhere. The 4-day practical training takes place in Alsóörs, on Lake Balaton: from the first day you are on a boat and you are actually sailing. We do not drill exam tasks, but we teach you how to actually handle a boat – because the goal is for you to sit confidently on board even after the exam.
At the end of the course, you will take the exam on well-known training boats, in a familiar exam environment – not on an unknown boat, in unknown waters.
Study material and exam preparation
We start with a live online lecture – where you can ask questions – then you will receive professional study material and unlimited access to our exam preparation program, where you can practice all exam questions. Since 2020, 96% of our students have passed their theory exam the first time.
The exam
We handle the entire administration of your exam application – you have nothing to do with it. The practical exam takes place on the same training ship you studied on, so there are no surprises. More than 2,000 of our students have already obtained their licenses with us.

- The theoretical course takes place online, via the Zoom platform.
- The location of the theoretical exam must be one of the national branches of the Driving Aptitude and Examination Center (KAV), so it is possible to take the theoretical exam in Budapest, Siófok, Mohács, Komárom, Miskolc or Győr. A successful theoretical exam is a prerequisite for the subsequent practical exam.

You secure your place on the course with a reservation – this is less than half the course fee, and you can pay by bank transfer or SZÉP card. You will then receive everything by email: location, equipment, course material.

Is prior training required?
Yes, a valid inland navigation license is required.
How many people can study at the same time?
A maximum of 4 students are on the boat at a time.
What if the weather is bad?
In case of stormy weather, we will postpone the course and transfer the reservation to the next date.
When is it worth doing it?
As soon as possible after obtaining the right – while the funds are fresh.
Can I pay with a SZÉP card?
Yes, you can also pay with OTP, MKB and KH SZÉP cards.
