Our motorboat driver (small engine boat) course is based in Budapest(Csepel), so the goal of this course is to teach you how to drive a boat on the Danube and prepare you for a later life as a boater. For theoretical preparation, we provide the entire curriculum online along with unlimited access to our easy-to-use exam practice program, which can also be used on your mobile phone. During the practical small engine boat training, we prepare you for a successful small engine boat driver exam and for real life as a boater.
By completing the motorboat course (officially known as “recreational small boat driver training”) and passing the exam, you will obtain an internationally valid inland recreational small boat driver’s license, which entitles you to drive a boat with a maximum length of 20 meters and a capacity of 12 people without any upper horsepower limitation(!).
So when does this qualification come in handy?
- if you want to drive a motorboat, motorboat or jet ski on the Danube, Tisza or other inland waters, for example
- if you want to drive an electric boat with at least 14.7Kw engine power or more than 7m in length on Lake Balaton
- if you want to rent a jet ski or motorboat along the coast during your holiday abroad (e.g. at sea)
What is the motorboat course about and how long does it last?
It is important that during our practical training you learn and practice twice, on two separate days. Our course is not a crash course, we allow time for what you have learned in practice to settle in and for you to practice the tasks again immediately before the exam.
During our 1+1 day courses, we go through the most important theoretical parts of the exam (such as Navigational Regulations, Boat Navigation, etc.) within the framework of classroom education (or online education) and in addition, we practice the possible exam tasks on natural water, on a motorboat, and those maneuvers, the confident mastery of which is an essential condition for future small boat driving.
